A Veteran's Dying Wish: A Home for His Dog

Pets for Patriots was contacted earlier this month by a hospice social worker in San Diego caring for a terminally ill veteran of the Korean war. We know little about this very private man except that before he dies, he's determined to find a new home for his beloved dog, Gizmo. This hero has no family and possibly only days to live...

Dying veteran seeks home for beloved dog

An elderly veteran in hospice care near San Diego, California wants to ensure his beloved dog Gizmo has a new home. The gentleman has about a month to live and make arrangements for Gizmo, his only remaining family.

Don’t miss the upcoming ‘Designer Mutt Match & Cool Cats’ adoption event, hosted by Pawsitive Alliance. Meet hundreds of great dogs, puppies, cats and kittens from across Washington in one location. Come meet the critters on June 26th, 2011, from noon until 3p.m. at the Bellevue PetSmart in Bellevue, Wash.  More than 64 families found their new best friends at our last year’s Designer Mutt Match!

Why should I adopt at this event?

More than 100 dogs and puppies of all different shapes, sizes, ages and breeds from 10 animal rescue organizations will be onsite available for adoption, along with over 40 cats and kittens from around the state.

Puppies, kittens, adults, small dogs, purebred and mixed breeds will be available. No need to buy a dog from a breeder and then have to pay for shots and spay/neuter, with these dogs all of that has been done and is included in the adoption price. All cats and kittens are also altered and up to date on shots, making the adoption donation a great value. The only thing these furry friends need is a new home to love and protect them for a lifetime. Plus our dogs and cats have a money back guarantee and are always welcome back at the shelter or rescue for any reason if it’s not a right fit for your family.

Experienced shelter staff, volunteers and trainers will be on hand to help you find the right animal for your family. The trainers will be available to answer your questions about any dog you are thinking of adopting. Shelter staff has evaluated each dog and cat’s behavior and temperament. Adoption fees range from $150 to $250 for dogs/puppies and $75 to $100 for cats/kittens.
